Biography

Smith’s passion for politics started at nine years old when a family friend and former county chairman took him to his first political fundraiser. He grew this passion by serving as a Crawford County Election Board member (2013-2016, 2020). He is associated with the Crawford County Republican Party and is the current Secretary and a Party Precinct Committeeman.

He is a graduate of Butler University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. His qualifications include currently serving as deputy prosecuting attorney for the Jefferson County, Indiana Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and, early in his career, served the Floyd County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office as a certified legal intern and graduate legal intern.

His love of the Crawford County community is shown in his active participation in organizations that aim to continue to move the county forward. He is the current Secretary of the Crawford County Redevelopment Commission, Secretary of the Crawford County Economic Development Corporation and board member of the Southern Indiana Veteran Living and Rehabilitation Facility.
